How Does Enlighten™ Laser Tattoo Removal Work?
With laser tattoo removal, the type of laser selected for the treatment is extremely important. Enlighten™ utilizes the safest wavelength available for the effective removal of tattoos and is the most advanced laser system for the effective and safe removal of tattoos. The light is delivered to the tattoo so rapidly that the ink is broken up into tiny particles. These fragmented ink particles are safely cleared by the body through its own processes. The tattoo will fade after each treatment.
Can you describe the treatment process?
In most cases, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the skin prior to the treatment to help with comfort. The laser is applied to the tattoo creating a “frosting” effect that results in white discoloration. As the “frosting” subsides the tattoo appears reddish. The treatment usually takes between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo. Afterward, antibiotic ointment is applied to the treatment area and the tattoo is covered with gauze.
What Does Enlighten™ Tattoo Removal Feel Like?
Some would compare the sensation to the snap of a rubber band. The use of cold air and topical numbing greatly reduces the discomfort associated with laser tattoo removal. Overall, the enlighten™ laser system is designed to be as efficient as possible, meaning that fewer treatments, and less pain, is associated with this tattoo removal method.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Every patient and tattoo is different. The total number of treatments vary depending on the composition, depth and the color of the ink, as well as the size of the tattoo. Patients should be prepared for multiple treatment sessions and, when you visit our clinic, we will discuss the estimated treatment sessions that we believe will be needed to remove the tattoo in your initial consultation.
What Kind of Side Effects Are Associated With This Treatment?
With the enlighten™ laser system, most patients experience redness and swelling of the skin immediately after treatment. These side effects are temporary and the majority of patients are able to return to regular activities immediately following the treatment.
