Laser Hair Removal Chattanooga
The Gentle Pro Series is the gold standard for laser hair removal in all Fitzpatrick skin types. It is a dual wavelength laser platform that combines the fastest and most powerful 755 nm Alexandrite laser with an equally powerful 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser for high performance treatment capabilities in terms of speed, efficacy, ease-of-use, performance, safety and patient satisfaction.
LA Medspa is excited to be the first and only Medspa in the Chattanooga area to offer treatments with the new Gentle Max Pro Plus laser system by Candela Medical.
The GentleMax Pro Plus dual laser platform is built on the legacy of its renowned predecessor, GentleMax Pro, and has taken laser hair removal to the next level. The system offers a wide range of hair removal treatment options to customize the treatment for all skin types. The GentleMax Pro Plus system provides a rapid coverage rate, with higher energies, larger spot sizes up to 26 mm and increased repetition rate, providing enhanced capability to treat large areas more efficiently. The addition of the 2 millisecond pulse width extends the capabilities of the prior generation platform in allowing for the treatment of fine, residual hair. The GentleMax Pro Plus platform is far beyond just a laser hair removal device and can treat a wide range of other dermatological indications including vascular lesions, benign pigmented lesions, wrinkles, and temporary increase of clear nail in patients with onychomycosis.
Beautiful, Desirable Skin
Laser hair removal is an amazing option for clients who want to reduce unwanted hair, razor bumps, and ingrown hairs. Advancements in technique and technology used for this procedure have made permanent hair removal easily achievable for both women and men. Popular areas for laser hair removal include the face, legs, underarms, bikini line, and feet; however, the treatment can be used safely and effectively anywhere unwanted hair may appear.
How Does it Work?
This procedure uses a concentrated beam of light– a laser– to remove unwanted hair. The laser emits a light that is then absorbed by the pigment or melanin in the hair. Then the light energy is converted to heat, which actually destroys the hair follicles that produce hairs. The follicles are reabsorbed by the body and the hair falls out over the next seven to ten days. A series of 6 – 10 treatment are typically needed. These are done anywhere from 4 – 10 weeks apart depending on the area(s) to be treated. Some clients may need additional sessions or touch-ups over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during laser treatment?
Treatment will take place in your practitioner’s office. They will use a small handheld device to deliver each pulse. Each treatment time could last as little as a short few minutes to up to an hour, depending on the size of the treated area and the condition being treated
Does it hurt?
Some patients may feel slight discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described as a small pinching sensation. Discomfort will resolve quickly, and it is lessened by GentleMax Pro’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device™ (DCD™), or air cooling. Some patients may use a topical anesthetic before their treatment. Be sure to discuss this with your practitioner.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
The number of sessions you need will depend on the treatment you’re receiving as well as the condition of your skin. Multiple treatments are necessary for hair removal. Other conditions may clear up in as little as one treatment. However, it is important to note that many factors impact the effectiveness of treatments, including the severity of the condition being treated.
How do I prepare for treatment?
Hair removal patients should avoid plucking, electrolysis, or waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus, your doctor may prescribe prophylactic antiviral therapy. Your skin should be clean-shaven and washed, free of any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics, or self-tanning products. Do not expose the your skin to sunlight or tanning booth light prior to or immediately after treatment. Use sunscreen (SPF 30+) prior to treatment.
What can I expect after treatment?
You may use a cool compress or gel pack for comfort immediately following your treatment. Any redness or swelling you experience should resolve within a few hours.
What precautions should I take after treatment?
After your laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunscreen (SPF 30+). In the first few days after treatment, do not use skin scrubs or other abrasive cleansers on treated areas. Your practitioner may advise you of additional precautions.
Are there side effects?
Side effects may include redness, swelling, hyper- or hypo-pigmentation, blistering, or purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated areas—these usually do not last more than a few days. Be sure to discuss potential side effects with your practitioner. Permanent side effects are rare.
Are these treatments covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures. However, some carriers will cover treatment for disfiguring birthmarks. Consult your insurance carrier for more information.
How much do treatments cost?
The cost of laser treatment depends on the area and condition being treated. Discuss your personal needs with your practitioner to learn more.
